With the arrival of summer months, luxury yachts as well as tourists began to flock to the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts. In addition to visiting the unique bays in Bodrum, Marmaris, Kuşadası and Göcek, yachts prefer Turkish ports to meet their fuel needs.

BOAT MOORING PRICE IN GÖCEK IS TWICE THAN MONACO

Yacht and Boat Industry Association (YATED) Chairman Murat Bekiroğlu said that in the face of increasing boat and yacht mooring prices, many boats go to marinas in nearby countries. Bekiroğlu said, “Turkey’s paradise bays have turned into ‘boat parks’. There are currently between 25-30 marinas in Turkey. Their total mounting capacity is around 6,500. “The capacity needs to be increased very quickly by at least 50 percent in the first stage,” he said.

Explaining that those who want to start sailing with boats of 8-10 meters in length are obsessed with marina prices, Bekiroğlu said, “For example, those who want to buy a boat worth 30-40 thousand euros and go to sea take a step back when they see the prices in marinas. In Monaco, the daily mooring price for a 42-meter boat at the marina in high season is 650 euros. The same boat pays 1,200 euros per day in the marina in Göcek and 700 euros in Bodrum. However, in Greece it is 35 euros per day. This situation causes foreign yachts to go abroad.” he said.
