Our Elderly and Children Met the Sea

Yacht and Boat Industry Association YATED introduced our Elderly and Children to the ‘Sea’ on its boat named ‘YATED BOAT’, under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Istanbul Port Authority, on the occasion of July 1 Maritime and Cabotage Day.

We have thousands of elderly people and children in need of help who live in Istanbul and have never seen the sea, smelled the sea, experienced the sea, and/or taken a boat tour of the Bosphorus. The aim of the project, which aims to introduce a minimum of 100-150 people to the sea every year, is to provide some support to this group. We took 50 elderly people over the age of 60 from Bahçelievler Nursing Home and 50 children between the ages of 4-15 in need, supported by the Urgent Needs Project Foundation, from their places of residence by buses, took them on the ‘YATED BOAT’ from the Arnavutköy pier, and took them on a 3-hour Bosphorus tour with food, entertained them, and gave them small gifts. They were taken back to where they lived, with buses waiting for them where they boarded the boat.

An ambulance and a boat medical team were present at the pier during the event. The fun that started on the buses continued on the ship. All our elderly and children socialized with each other by dancing and chatting. Towards the end of the ‘Yated Boat’ Bosphorus tour, symbolic gifts were given to all guests. Nursing Home residents between the ages of 62-87 expressed their satisfaction and thanked and congratulated YATED for undertaking such a social responsibility project. Students who directly passed to the 11th grade this year at Haydarpaşa Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School YATED Workshop were also invited to the Yated Boat Bosphorus tour and they supported the organization as YATED Officers. Yacht and Boat Industry Association YATED Board of Directors has decided to expand and expand our social responsibility project every July 1 from now on. Every year, cooperation will be made with different nursing homes and institutions where children in need are located.
