As part of ‘18 May International Women in Maritime Day’, the Association of Women Captains, Engineers and Seafarers (KGKMDD)—which operates with the aim of increasing the visibility of women in Turkey’s maritime sector, strengthening professional solidarity and sharing the success stories of women seafarers with a wider audience—organised an event on 14 May in which our Association also participated; panels were held with the participation of sector representatives, employees and academics.
At the event, which our Association supported as a “Silver Sponsor”, a plaque was presented to our Association Director, Mr Kadir Karakaya, by the KGKMDD in recognition of our contributions.
We are delighted to be part of this meaningful initiative, which contributes to the empowerment of women and equal opportunities in the maritime sector, and we would like to thank all stakeholders involved, particularly Ms Esra Ulutürk Dinç, Chair of the KGKMDD Board of Directors, and the Board Members.
