The prices of the boats to be exhibited at the fair start from 13 thousand TL and go up to 150 million TL. The value of the boats to be exhibited at the fair is approximately 5 billion TL. The interest shown in our fair makes us very happy. “We have been telling companies that want to come as exhibitors for about 1.5 months that we have no room left.” he said.
BOATS SUITABLE FOR EVERY NEED ARE AT THIS FAIR
ED Fuarcılık Founding Partner Emel Yılmaz, who informed that the most assertive models of world-famous yacht brands and Turkey’s leading boat manufacturing shipyards will be presented to boat lovers at the fair, where 2023 model boats will also be showcased, said: “At the fair, where the latest technologies used in boat and yacht construction will also be shown, Boats, equipment and accessories will be available for every need. “With the ‘Cryptom Bosphorus Boat Show’, which is Turkey’s single largest boat fair held on the sea, MarinTurk Istanbul City Port will once again become the center of the ‘Boat Show’ for both exhibitors and visitors.” he said.
MORE THAN 50 THOUSAND VISITORS ARE EXPECTED
Stating that the fair, which will be held for the first time under the name ‘Cryptom Bosphorus Boat Show’ at MarinTurk Istanbul City Port in Pendik, is of great importance for the maritime industry, Dilek Günaydın said, “The interest in boats and yachts in the world has increased in recent years with the pandemic. Those who prefer an isolated life took action to buy boats and yachts. This situation occurred in Turkey as well as in many countries around the world. Many local and foreign boat and yacht manufacturers have started to give dates for the delivery of boats and yachts 2-3 years later. In such a period, organizing a fair on the sea in Istanbul is of great importance. “The fact that the latest model boats of local and foreign brands are showcased in Istanbul and more than 50 thousand visitors will come attracts boat and yacht companies.” he said.
BOATS WORTH MILLIONS OF LIRA WILL BE SOLD
Stating that they expect boat sales worth millions of lira at the fair, ED Fuarcılık Founding Partner Emel Yılmaz said, “The construction of boats and yachts can take a long time. Manufacturers make their plans with these agreements. The fact that Istanbul is included in the world fair calendar with such a large organization and that the organization is held on the sea also attracts the attention of foreign buyers. Boats suitable for every need will also be exhibited at the fair. “After the increasing interest in the sea and maritime in Turkey, sea lovers who bought small-sized boats began to turn to slightly larger sizes for catamarans, motor yachts and sailboats as they spent more time on their boats due to the pandemic effect.” he said.
GRAND FAIR IN THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY
Stating that the fair to be held is Turkey’s largest boat fair held on the sea, YATED President Alpaslan Sirkecioğlu said, “We have been telling those who want to participate in the fair for about 1.5 months that we have no room left. Our biggest goal is to unite the industry under one roof. We see that we have achieved this with this fair. We see that there will be similar interest in our land fair to be held in the future. We will organize our fair on the sea next year. “We will organize a very big organization together with ED Fuarcılık on the 100th anniversary of the Republic.” he said.
BOAT TOURISTS SPEND 6-7 THOUSAND DOLLARS
Stating that, as YATED, they act by leaving individual and corporate interests aside, YATED Vice President Murat Bekiroğlu gave information about the boat and yacht industry. Bekiroğlu said:
“With the pandemic, there was an escape to isolated life and nature. The effects of this still continue. In this context, we can say that interest in boats and yachts has increased. Apart from these, foreigners also have high interest in Turkey. There are those who bring their boats from abroad, especially for repair and maintenance. The price-quality performance in Turkey attracts boat owners to Turkey. For example, we can build a boat faster in Turkey, which would take 5 months to be painted and delivered in France. In addition, the crew of these boats stays in Turkey, in our marinas. Even just one painting process can cost 200-300 thousand Euros, depending on the size of the boat. When a 40-meter boat stays in Göcek for 5 months, it pays a fee of 1 million TL. With other expenses, this amounts to 2 million TL. While tourists coming with an all-inclusive plan spend an average of 600-700 dollars, boat tourists spend 6-7 thousand dollars. In this respect, we can say that the boat and yacht industry’s contribution to the country’s economy and tourism is great.” Noting that the recent increase in VAT rates to 18 percent in the sector had negative effects, Bekiroğlu said, “Raw material prices have increased. There was an increase in exchange rates. When VAT was added to this, boat prices doubled. This also affected domestic boat sales. In this context, it would be beneficial to reduce VAT to 1 percent again, as in the past.” he said.
THE FAIR WILL CONTINUE IN DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT
Cryptom Bosphorus Boat Show, which will be held for the first time this year, can be visited digitally at the same time as the fair for the first time in the world. The products and details of the products to be exhibited by all companies participating in the fair can be seen on the application, and after the fair ends on November 20, participants and visitors will be able to communicate and view the products through the application until December 31. The general plan of the fair area, sponsors and easy access to the fair area can also be seen in the fair application.
